Responsibilities:
1. Study: learn the animals' routines and feeding schedule.
2. Animal keeping: prepare and distribute appropriate diets according to species-specific nutritional requirements, maintain clean and sanitary animal enclosures, monitor and maintain appropriate temperature, humidity, and lighting conditions in animal habitats; provide environmental enrichment activities and toys to enhance the animals' well-being; administer medications and treatments as directed.
3. In-home boarding: required to stay at our mini-farm when we travel.
4. Time: flexible enough to be able to work on weekends and holidays, and continuously for up to two weeks if needed. Days-off will be moved to after the trip. Flexibility will also benefits you because there will be some times that you will not be required to assist.
5. Driving: be able to move small animals to different places (vet-farm) if requested.
6. Location: This position requires working indoors (mostly) and outdoors in all climates.
7. Observation: Observe animals to monitor their behavior, health, and overall well-being
8. Records: Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal health, behavior, and enrichment activities
9. Communication: Report any concerns or abnormalities and send updates of the animals when we travel.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of basic pet care and handling techniques
Ability to handle and control animals of various sizes and temperaments
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, as some pets may require assistance
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately
Ability to speak and understand Spanish or English
Ability to tolerate loud noises and unpleasant odors.
ABILITY TO CLEAN AFTER CLEANING.
Ability to walk unaided on uneven and/or rough terrain
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Prior experience working with reptiles, birds, and livestock is essential
Knowledge of species-specific care, behavior, and husbandry requirements
Strong understanding of animal nutrition and the ability to prepare appropriate diets
Experience with environmental enrichment techniques to promote animal well-being
Detail-oriented with excellent observational and documentation skills
