Job Summary:

The Laborer/Team Member performs tasks involving physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects. The team member may operate a variety of hand and power tools or heavy equipment, clean and prepare job sites, concrete formwork and finish work, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris, remove waste materials, assist in asphalt work and assist other craft workers in need.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Exceptional Punctuality & Attendance

Following and adhering to all company policies and procedures.

Ensuring the proper safety PPE is always worn.

Assuring the accurate & timely completion/delivery of all assigned tasks.

Assuring the highest standards of quality on each task.

Adhering to all State and Local policies & laws.

Assuring the company vehicle is cleaned & any waste is disposed of properly at the end of each workday.

Assuring that personal industry knowledge is current to the needs of the business.

Assuring that equipment maintenance is completed at the end of each workday and waste is properly disposed of from the piece of equipment.

Dispose of all waste products properly.

Any other responsibilities as may be required or requested by the direct supervisor.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Must be able to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway/ site construction projects.

Must be able to maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment. Secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.

Material handling and storage; load and unload trucks; haul and hoist materials.

Accurately follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Safety Director, or Project Manager.

Follow Daily Procedures and Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings, including but not limited to punctuality and attendance records.

Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and/or tools and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor; clean equipment and/or tools.

Assist in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Control traffic at work sites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned.

Assist in training of other team members performing the maintenance and repair duties, as required, or assigned.

Assist in the safety & policy compliance training of other team members.

Any other duties the Supervisor/Foreman may feel it necessary to assign.

Education & Experience:

HS Diploma or GED certificate preferred.

Experience in Civil Construction/Landscape Industry.

Valid Drivers License preferred. drivers with clean driving record will be compensated at a higher rate of pay.

Physical Requirements:

Extended periods of standing, sitting, bending, and stooping, turning the head and torso, reaching grasping, bending, and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers. The senses of being able to see, hear, smell, taste, and have full power of speech are required.

The ability to climb and balance is essential.

Must be able to lift more than seventy-five (75) pounds.

Job requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.

Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint, or throw object.

Person may be subjected to extreme variations in heat, humidity, cold, and other weather conditions that Sunshine Land Design, Inc. has no control. Normal auto and air travel hazards will apply. Work will be performed near moving equipment and in, sometimes, hazardous conditions. There will be exposure to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and sometimes high and hazardous places.
