Start-up insurance division of an established company seeks a Data Architecture and Engineering Manager (reporting to CIO) for a direct hire position to be located in West Palm Beach FL area (St. Petersburg is a second option.) Be a part of building the infrastructure and technology. Focus will be on Digital, Customer experience, Cloud etc. Must have expertise in a similar situation and ideally with insurance/financial services experience.

Data Architecture and Engineering Manager
The Data Architect and Engineering Manager oversees the creation and usage of enterprise data. They establish and maintain the policies and procedures for data standardization, API format, data centralization, and data warehousing. They will also set the foundation for the data science practice in the organization. The Data Architecture and Engineering Manager has ownership of a data and data storage facilities across all products.
The Data Architecture and Engineering Manager will work closely with the CIO to lead the effective and accurate collection and use of enterprise data while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal IT standards, policies, and procedures.
: Manage the standards, guidelines, definition, and quality of data from collection to warehousing.
: Responsible for using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, to build and implement models, create and use algorithms, and create and run simulations.
: Responsible for the rules for real-time data centralization through integration layer technologies
: API request and response standards.
: Responsible for ODS and DWH
: Work with multiple development teams on multiple projects to provide consult and guidance on data solution design, architecture, and development.
: Leverage expert knowledge of advanced analytics to develop, test, validate, and maintain robust solutions using supervised and unsupervised techniques.
: Review work with leadership and partners on an ongoing basis to calibrate deliverables against expectations.
: Identify long term opportunities to improve the underwriting lifecycle through the creation of algorithms and machine learning techniques and achieve financial objectives.
: Advance the departments capabilities by creating and deploying long term tools to continually evolve the practice of data science.
: Identify and assess the value of new data sources and analytical techniques to ensure ongoing competitive advantage.
: Apply economic, quantitative, and statistical skills in the development of models to drive profitable growth and make sound business decisions.
: Experience sizing, designing, and configuring rdbms and data solutions to meet business, performance, security, availability, recovery requirements.
: Understanding of standard data models used in the insurance industry.
: Knowledge and experience developing ETL Solutions, working with both unstructured and structured data.
: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot underperforming data workflows.
: Relevant knowledge of applied statistics and experience using machine learning techniques such as logistic regression, random forest regression/classification modeling, clustering/segmentation techniques and statistical inference/analysis to complete research are important enablers.
: Technical, hands-on experience executing 'big data' research programs using mainstream data-science tools.
: Experience managing technical personnel in project-based environments.
