What You’ll Do
1) Production Prep (Primary – Night Shift)
● Surface Prep & Sanding: Sand planters by hand and with electronic sanders to required grit levels; maintain even finishes and proper edges; keep work area dust-controlled and clean between jobs.
● Repairs: Use provided repair putties, fillers, and small repair tools to fix chips, voids, and seams; feather and blend repairs so pieces are paint-ready; document notable defects and rework.
● Work Order Management:
○ Review nightly work queue in the work order management software (create/print travelers, read notes/specs, confirm due dates).
○ Update statuses (e.g., “In Prep,” “Repair,” “Ready for Paint”), attach photos as needed, and log materials/time used.
○ Flag parts risks or delays to the Production/Paint Lead before end of shift.
● Quality Handover: Perform a final prep check (clean, dust-free, defect-free) and stage items in the Ready-for-Paint zone with proper labels.
2) Packaging & Shipping (Support)
● Pack & Protect: Box, wrap, and palletize finished planters to company standards; apply corner/edge protection, void fill, and strapping for damage-free transit.
● Labeling & Documentation: Print/apply packing slips, pallet labels, and BOL labels; confirm SKU, quantity, and destination accuracy; verify dimensions and weight for carrier systems (e.g., FedEx/UPS/LTL).
● Outbound Staging: Consolidate orders by route/carrier, stage in dispatch lanes, and communicate exceptions to the Shipping/Logistics Lead.
3) General Warehouse Operations
● Receiving: Safely unload containers/trucks; check for damage; count and record quantities; sort and store materials in correct locations.
● Material Handling: Pick and deliver materials to production; use pallet jacks and (if certified) forklifts to move product safely.
● Inventory Support: Notify leads of low stock; assist with month-end physical inventory and cycle counts; keep locations labeled and accurate.
● Facility Care (5S): Keep aisles clear, racks tidy, tools maintained, and work cells broom-clean; follow daily end-of-shift cleanup checklist.
4) Safety & Compliance
● Follow basic warehouse safety procedures and all PPE requirements (safety glasses, gloves, dust mask/respirator for sanding as required).
● Operate equipment (sanders, carts, pallet jacks, stretch-wrap machines, and forklifts if certified) per training and SOPs.
● Report hazards, near misses, and defects immediately; participate in incident-prevention and tool care.
