Looking for a Surgical Technologist interested in working as a Medical Laser Technician/ Medical Laser Safety Officer.
This position is responsible for laser safety during laser procedures in the surgical suite. Primary duties also include testing of lasers prior to surgical procedures, and control of power settings throughout the procedure. This position requires attention to detail and ability to professionally work with the entire surgical team to assure quality patient outcome.
Applicant must live in a 10-15 mile radius to the area noted in the posting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to the following.
-Knowledge of the surgical suite and sterile technique.
-Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
-Previous surgical laser experience with Thulium, Holmium, Nd:Yag, CO2, and Diode lasers preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
-General knowledge of LASER principles.
-Cleaning and disinfection of laser fibers, handpieces, and physical laser immediately following usage.
-Ability to provide laser safety education to surgical staff.
-Care of the lasers to avoid damage and continued proper operating condition at all times.
-Accurately document surgical laser usage on provided surgical logs.
-Must have a current and valid driver license with a safe driving record.
-Transport of laser(s) (transport vehicle provided).
-Clear communication with office personnel and surgery scheduling to assure all procedures are properly covered per daily, or weekly surgical schedule.
-Continued education and updates on new laser technology and usage.
-Attendance at mandatory staff meetings as requested.
-Up-to-date CPR, required facility vaccinations, and laser credentials (AST will pay for any necessary credentialing requirements).
-Clear and professional communication with the surgeon and surgical staff.
-Daily logging of surgical procedures for billing.
-Occasional travel necessary for training, updates, and possible coverage of other facilities outside assigned coverage area.
-Schedule flexibility within normal hospital working hours with on-call, or additional hours as needed (Company cell phone will be provided).
-Complete all laser duties as assigned.

Monday to Friday
On call
Weekends as needed

This position is for a surgical technologist. If you are not a surgical technologist or have prior experience as a Medical Laser Technician, please do NOT apply for this position. We prefer Urology experience as well.
