Politan Row at Ashford Lane is looking for a Lead Bartender.
We're hiring Food Hall Ambassadors who greet our customers, answer questions, help them navigate the food hall.
Position Summary
The Lead Bartender acts as the trusted leader of the bar team, taking direction from the Bar Manager. The Lead Bartender is expected to perform all the tasks that are regularly assigned to other bartenders, and the Lead Bartender is expected to bear the standard and excel at these tasks. The Lead Bartender should want to grow and learn the mechanics of bar operations and assist in the administration of those mechanics.
Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, and Tasks
● All the duties expected of the standard bartender role.
● Receive, rotate, and restock liquor, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic deliveries.
● Conduct weekly quality check of perishable items with an assessment of pars and report back to Bar Manager.
● Provide key training to new hires including prep and syrup production, POS usage, and etiquette in shared spaces.
● Ensure that all bartenders adhere to Bar Politan cocktail recipes and maintain high standards of drink preparation.
● Communicate effectively with other leaders and the bar team using Slack and email.
● Maintain complete knowledge of all spirits, wines, and beers served at Bar Politan and provide training to all bar staff on these products.
● Lead the bar team in creation of signature cocktails and special menus, adhering to deadlines set by the Bar Manager.
● Foster relationships with repeat guests, ensuring they are recognized and introduced to all members of the bar team.
● Provide key training to new hires on opening and closing procedures.
● Lead weekly prep and maintain pars of all prepared items including batches, juices, and syrups.
● Lead each shift in maintaining stocking levels and cleanliness.
● Responsible for bar team’s daily checklist completion
● Responsible for preparing and executing shot list for recurring social media photoshoots.
● Assist the Bar Manager in taking inventory
● Assist the Bar Manager in auditing the POS system, backbar, storage, and inventory sheet.
● Act as the Manager on Duty(MOD) as needed, in conjunction with bar service.
● Attend weekly bar management meetings, and other meetings as needed.
● Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
● 21 years of age or older
● One (1) year of experience as a bartender in a similar environment
● High school diploma or GED
● Knowledgeable in all forms of beverage and hospitality, including service, craft cocktails, beer, and wine
● Exceptionally familiar with the current offerings of the bar and the overall market
Preferred Qualifications:
● Three (3) years of experience as a bartender in a similar environment
● Any certifications or permits required by law to serve alcohol or handle food
● Advanced knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and drink recipes
