About the Role:
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on 2nd Shift Janitorial Lead to join our custodial team at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. The ideal candidate will work alongside the cleaning crew to ensure the facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and appearance. This role combines leadership responsibilities with active participation in daily cleaning tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Project Manager in leading and coordinating the 2nd shift janitorial team.
Work alongside cleaners to complete routine custodial tasks, including restroom cleaning, classroom & office cleaning which includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, vacuuming, and surface sanitizing.
Oversee team performance to ensure all assigned areas are cleaned according to daily task lists, schedules, and SOPs.
Confirm employee attendance and report absences, call-offs, or shift issues to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
Conduct walkthroughs at the beginning and end of the shift to ensure quality and completion of work.
Maintain supply levels by communicating inventory needs and ensuring proper use of chemicals and equipment.
Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site communication during the shift, relaying updates, requests, and concerns to management.
Support new employee onboarding and on-the-job training for team members as needed.
Promote a positive team environment that upholds company standards for professionalism, safety, and customer service.
Qualifications:
2-3 years of lead custodial or facility maintenance experience (lead or supervisory experience preferred).
Ability to lead by example and motivate team members.
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, use of commercial cleaning equipment, and chemical safety.
Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual cleaning tasks for extended periods.
Must be able to lift up to 20lbs and perform repetitive movements such as bending, lifting, and reaching.
Schedule & Compensation:
2nd Shift (Exact hours to be provided upon interview)
Competitive pay - $16 per hour
