US IT Data Engineering Lead (UCB, Inc. – Smyrna, GA); Multiple positions available. Focus on innovative algorithms and models that make intelligent, automated, decisions in real time to make engineering process better, faster and accurate. To achieve that, collaborate with the commercial and technology team and work closely with product, platform and delivery team to provide technical solutions to business problems/requirements. Lead data engineering team translating business and technology requirements into the company’s ETL/ELT architecture. Develop and maintain current and next generation Commercial platforms and applications for both vendor hosted and internal cloud services. Ensure proper data governance policies are followed by implementing or validating Data Lineage and Quality checks. Engage in architectural decisions, verifying requirements, reviews of designs, scrum leading, build and operations of the platforms. Quickly identify an opportunity and recommend possible technical solutions. Position based in Smyrna, Georgia. Telecommuting permitted up to 60% of time.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 7 years of experience in the job offered or in engineering. Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following: Programming in Python, R, Spark SQL, Java, or similar; Application development experience using Cloud and Big Data engineering including Databricks or Azure technology stacks; Database design, optimizing queries, and related query planning; Using SQL to analyze large datasets to answer business questions and conduct statistical analyses of operational changes; and, Creating and maintaining analytics data pipelines that generates data and insight to power business decision making process.
