IT Specialist I Grade 15 Salary: $42,889.60 ($20.62 hr) - $46,467.20 ($22.24 hr) Gail O'Quinn- MIS Director The purpose of this classification is to provide technical support to all county offices relating to personal computers including software, hardware, networking, Internet, program development, and training.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Assembles, installs, and configures personal computers, peripherals, and software.

Uses expertise in customer service and technical knowledge to resolve issues surrounding the installation, usage, and training of software and hardware products.

Perform level one Helpdesk support ticketing entry and resolution

Install, and configure, various hardware and peripheral equipment, and software programs.

Label and Inventory equipment for asset ID and location accuracy.

Assists in monitoring inventory of departmental supplies, tools, and equipment; initiates the purchase of new or replacement materials.

·Maintains logs/documentation of system operations, modifications, maintenance, and other activities.

·Provide information, training, and assistance to users regarding computer operations, procedures, problems, software functions, upgrades, and other related issues.

Communicates with supervisor, employees, users, other departments, vendors, outside companies, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities and resolve problems,

Documents, monitors, and tracks support tickets to ensure timely resolution.

On-call support 24/7 on a rotation

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONSPerforms other related duties as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESHas general knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Management Information Services Department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of IT Specialist I. Has comprehensive knowledge of the terminology used within the department. Has the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members. Has the ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations. Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations. Can utilize and understand software applications and techniques as necessary in the completion of daily assignments. Has the ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Can comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the department. Has a good working knowledge of test instrument read-outs, inventory reports, installations and repairs, wiring diagrams, technical manuals related to computers and procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties. Is knowledgeable in the use of various software programs and operating systems utilized within the unified government.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSVocational/technical school education with major course work in computer networking or related fieldPreferred 2+ years of experience in computer networking, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSTO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including LAN wire tester, sniffer, cable repair tools and various computer and diagnostic equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of administrative, technical or professional languages including computer terminology.NUMERICAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; utilize determine percentages; interpret graphs, perform calculations involving variables, formulas, square toots and polynomials.FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape visually with computer equipment and diagnostic tools.MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes in using automated office/computer equipment.MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, automated office/computer equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting motion or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.COLOR DIFFERENTIATION: May require the ability to discern color.INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT: Requires the ability to deal with and relate to people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be able to adapt to and perform under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency.PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION: May require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive nature of sounds by ear.
