Job Description

Motivates center teams to implement high quality child/family services by providing guidance and direction to center staff, including setting and monitoring standards of performance. Act as an integrator of component areas. Function as a liaison and information conduit between program leadership, staff and community collaborators.

1. Oversees activities and programs of assigned Centers ensuring all programs are in compliance with state and federal regulations.

2. Monitor all areas of program services through observation, data analysis, record reviews, interviews and other methods. Recommends and implements improvements. Document monitoring activities.

3. Provides guidance and technical assistance to staff. Provide coaching and mentoring to center management staff.

4. Reviews and analyzes monthly financial and statistical reports to assess the budget status of Centers and programs. Investigates variances and suggests program changes if needed. Develops, allocates and manages resources to maximize program effectiveness.

5. Participates in the evaluation and development of new programs.

6. Develop partnerships with community service providers to enhance local delivery of comprehensive services to children and families.

7. Protects the safety of children by promoting and implementing active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised at any time.

8. Organizes and provides training to staff, parents and volunteers. Assist in the development of program training plan. Develop and document progress on professional development plan for self and assigned staff. Facilitates and engages in professional development activities to increase qualifications in accordance with Corporation’s Core Values.

9. Attends requested case management meetings and participates in solution creation.

10. Secures contracts, agreements with community service providers to enhance local delivery of comprehensive services to children and families.

11. Analyzes information, create and submit required reports. Composes and proofreads correspondence and reports.

12. Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.

13. Ensures the mobilization and documentation of matching/in-kind funds.

14. May oversee daily activities of a center in the absence of a Center Director.

15. May fill in for Center staff to maintain the proper ratio.

16. Attends center level functions such as parent meetings and special events.

17. Attend meetings, committees and training sessions.

18. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

19. Transport materials to/between locations.

This position directly supervises others. This may include participation in the recruitment/selection process for new hires, employee training, onboarding, conducting performance coaching/evaluation, compensation administration, delegation of duties and conflict resolution. Promotes an environment of teamwork and cooperation and is accessible to employees.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Welfare, Public Administration, Human Services, Social Sciences or related field, 1 year of experience working with preschool children is required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.

Must be able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire and recertify as required.

Must have a willingness to work towards any additional credentials needed to move to the next level in the position, this may include continued education.

Minimum of three years of management experience.

Management experience in an early childhood setting is preferred.

Must have own transportation, a valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance.

Experience providing adult training.

Degree in a related field is defined as an associate, baccalaureate, or advanced degree in a field other than child development or early childhood education that either includes or is supplemented by twelve (12) college credits in child development or early childhood education focusing on children birth to age five. At least 3 of those credits must be in ECE developmental foundations.

Skills and Abilities:

Microsoft Office products and on-line client management systems

Bilingual ability is preferred.

Sustained concentration and ability to handle multiple tasks, often simultaneously.

Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Additional Information

This job is a mixture of desk work and standing for long periods of time.

Driving/sitting for prolong periods of time.

Occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Occasional exposure to blood, other bodily fluids, cleaning chemicals and dirt.

Extensive travel.

Sitting, walking, stooping, squatting, lifting (up to 30 lbs), carrying, pushing and climbing.

Keyboarding and data entry, use of telephone.
