Assists therapy staff with identification and transportation needs for patient care in the rehab treatment areas and with the coordination of care between rehab and nursing floors.Essential Functions
Assists therapist with patient care. Standards:
Completes patient transfers and transports in a safe manner adhering to weight bearing status, contraindications, precautions and proper body mechanics at all times
Monitors patients to assure accurate follow through with therapist’s exercise instructions. Prepares and cleans therapy area for patient use adhering to protocols and assists with treatments as appropriate
Delivers all documentation and equipment to the appropriate unit on a daily basis and within established time frames
Completes all routine checks for the department. Standards:
Maintains temperature logs, hot/cold therapy logs and refrigerator temperature logs as outlined by company standards
Maintains all areas of the department in a clean and orderly fashion as defined by the Rehab Tech Responsibility list
Prepares and maintains appropriate number of packets for specialty areas
Maintains central service stock at appropriate levels for the department
Performs general office functions. Standards:
Completes tasks accurately and timely (filing, photocopying, mail distribution, logging of orders, therapist notification, schedule board, cleaning)
Completes patient transport schedule daily and delivers in a timely manner
Serves as a receptionist for the department
Processes patient charges accurately and timely
Distributes reports and forms of communication in an efficient and timely manner
Establishes and maintains positive lines of communication and standards of courtesy with internal and external customers. Standards:
Utilizes appropriate phone etiquette
Demonstrates courtesy and understanding when dealing with customer requests
Maintains positive demeanor when dealing with difficult situations
Utilizes sound professional judgment based on knowledge, skill, education, training and experience. Standards:
Abides by core business values and ethics as outlined by the company
Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with patients/families, co-workers, other health care professionals and the community

Qualifications
H.S. Diploma or GED or its equivalent required
0-1 years Customer service work helpful but not required preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates basic understanding of patient transfers, transport and a patient care environment.
Demonstrates basic understanding of therapy treatment principles.
Requires basic understanding of the related behaviors, needs and comfort appropriate to age (including infant, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patients served in order to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external customers.
Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language both verbal and written.
