Posting End Date: at 11:59PM HST BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION: The H GM STEAM & HYDRO Department of the H GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt) JOB FUNCTION: Performs predictive/preventative/corrective and overhaul maintenance, installation, and trouble analysis on power generating units, and all related auxiliary and support equipment which includes other related technologies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A Machinist Mechanic at the maximum level, performs the following duties (at lower levels, performs the following duties under direction or direct supervision in accordance with the stages of training):

Performs predictive/preventative/corrective and overhaul maintenance, installation, and trouble/fault analysis of generating units, and all related auxiliary and support equipment which includes other related technologies.

Installs, dismantles, overhauls, checks, fabricates, and repairs plant equipment. Repairs equipment for other departments as required.

References instruction manuals, directions, technical drawings, sketches, engineering information, and other directions as necessary.

Uses trade (hand and power) tools and shop equipment as necessary.

Uses precision tools and instruments in performance of tasks such as machinery alignment.

Performs tasks in the decommissioning of equipment.

Operates equipment in unmanned plants for operational and maintenance purposes.

Identifies parts for replacement orders. May initiate requisitions for materials used and credits for materials returned to the storeroom.

Performs mechanical and machine shop work as directed.

Receives training to perform duties of a higher classification.

Performs concrete and refractory work including construction of forms, installation of steel, and concrete and refractory finishing.

Directs the work of assigned lower classified personnel.

Follows rules and work practices and takes responsibility for personnel safety and safety of others.

May substitute for Senior Machinist Mechanic, Working Foreman (Machinist Mechanic), Foreman, or Supervisor as directed.

Collaborates with and supports others trades and departments.

Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs similar and incidental duties as directed.

May operate a company vehicle as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) for Machinist Mechanic progression system.

Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the MASS.

Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.

Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.

Must be a graduate of applicable Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience.

Must be able to pass minimum requirements for respirator use.

Must pass Practical On-the-Job Test and Company Written Job Knowledge Test.

Work Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Lunch: 30 minutes

Wage: $36.10 – $53.30
