KMSS Facility Team Member (Full-Time / Part-Time)

Kihei Maui Self Storage is seeking a highly motivated and versatile individual to join our team as a Facility Team Member. This is an all-around, hands-on position responsible for ensuring the successful operation of our storage facility during your scheduled hours. You will be the primary customer-facing team member and the key person ensuring the property is safe, clean, and ready to rent while on duty. Compensation & Schedule

Compensation: This position offers a starting pay of $19 per hour. Higher compensation is available for candidates with extensive experience, depending on skills and background.

Employment Type: We are hiring for both Full-Time (40 hours/week) and Part-Time (minimum 18 hours/week) positions.

Schedule: Minimum of 5 days per week (3 days for part time), with flexible days and hours. Must have open availability on weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.

Benefits (Full-Time): Includes some paid holidays following the successful completion of the introductory/probationary period.

Core Responsibilities

This position is designed to be a blend of office management, customer service, and property maintenance. You will be the face of the facility while in the office and must be prepared to manage tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

Work Environment & Independence

You will work as part of a team but must be comfortable with the likelihood of working independently and alone in the office after training is complete.

You will be the primary on-site resource for all customer and operational needs during your scheduled shift. Responsibilities do not extend beyond scheduled working hours.

Customer Service & Sales

Welcome customers with immediate, friendly, and courteous service both in person and over the phone.

Rent storage units and related retail merchandise and complete rental agreements.

Handle collection calls and process payments accurately; responsible for preparing and making bank deposits.

Respond to price inquiries, check voicemails/emails, and respond to all customer inquiries promptly.

Show customers available units and resolve customer issues in a timely and effective manner.

Facility Maintenance & Operations

Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and appearance across the facility.

Perform daily tasks such as walking the property for trash and debris, sweeping, mopping, and assisting the team by ensuring restrooms are stocked and cleaned.

Conduct property inspections, including door checks, ensuring security and safety standards are upheld (e.g., no screws, glass, or hazards).

Perform grounds maintenance tasks such as picking up trash, pulling/spraying weeds, and other light landscaping duties.

Manage the U-Haul rental process, which includes checking vehicles in/out and performing minimal cleaning as needed.

Perform other assigned duties, including the ability to lift 25–30 pounds easily and be comfortable with the safe use of a ladder.

Qualifications & Requirements

Age/Education: Minimum of 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent required.

License: Valid Driver’s License is required due to the necessity of moving U-Haul vehicles on the property.

Skills:

Strong communication skills, good people skills, and excellent customer service etiquette (or willingness to learn).

Proactive problem-solver and the ability to think on your feet and work independently.

Attention to detail, organizational skills, and administrative assistance capabilities.

Basic computer knowledge (e.g., ability to use facility software, Microsoft Office, and Outlook).

Experience: Prior experience in customer service or office management is a plus but not required. We provide comprehensive training!
