Rate of pay: $24.62 per hour
Work schedule: Full-time; Monday – Friday; Days

Position summary: The admissions counselor is responsible for conducting direct recruitment activities, and interfacing with other outreach contractors for student enrollment. In addition, she/he empowers young adults by guiding them towards valuable career paths and educational opportunities in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential responsibilities include:
-Conduct direct recruitment activities, including public speaking, develop linkage with referral resources such as human services agencies, recreation centers, youth organizations and churches; participate in center tours and contact potential enrollees.
-Interview interested candidates and obtain required information on each one, ensure all documents required to support eligibility are obtained, properly completed, and included in applicant's folder.
-Arrange for reception of candidates upon acceptance into program.
-Follow up on student progress, e.g., length of stay and separation.
Education and experience requirements:
-A bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business communications or a closely related field OR An associate degree and two years of related experience is necessary. (Experience may include successful outreach and admissions experience or successful outreach and admissions experience with other youth programs.)
-A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

About us: Hawaii Job Corps Center is operated by Management & Training Corporation (MTC) for the U.S. Department of Labor. Located in Waimanalo, Oahu and Makawa’o, Maui, our campus is home to 300+ young adults, ages 16-24, who have made the decision to come to Job Corps in order to improve their lives. Every staff member is part of teaching the students the academic, technical training, employability, and social skills they need to become prepared for successful careers.
A Job Corps campus is like a mini-college. It has dormitories, classrooms, a dining hall, and recreational and medical facilities. Training is open entry, open exit and can last up to two years. Students work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success.
Hawaii Job Corps Center offers students training in nine vocations: building construction technology, automotive, office administration, culinary, landscaping, painting, health occupations, medical office administration and security/protective services trade.
