Assessment Specialist

Primary Purpose: Work in a team to support the developmental needs and progress of keiki and caregivers with regular assessments, screenings, caregiver education, and resources that promote optimal early learning experiences for a Family Child Interaction Learning (FCIL) program.

Essential Duties

● Model, teach and engage with enrolled families in a professional manner that encourages caregivers to be their keikiʻs first and foremost teacher;

● Administer, monitor, document and report on assessment instruments used for caregivers and keiki at the program;

● Observe, document and track the development and growth of keiki in a regular and timely manner;

● Work closely with the teaching team to ensure monthly lesson plans meet the developmental needs of keiki enrolled at sites;

● Identify participants with special needs and work closely with the family in recommending community services/agencies;

● Manage and disseminate caregiver resources for at-home learning;

● Develop daily work routines that support productive and positive team dynamics;

● Participate in regular briefings with the Site Manager to discuss program updates, challenges, and proposed solutions;

● Drive assigned company vehicles in a safe and legal manner.

Other Duties: Other duties as assigned include, but are not limited to, completing all forms and documentation such as reports related to grant objectives, professional development evaluations, and data collection for the program.

Work Hours

● A 10-month work schedule that closely aligns with the Hawai'i Department of Education's paid leave calendar;

● Monday through Friday, hours vary by site and are determined by the Site Manager;

● Consistent and reliable attendance;

● Some events and professional development may take place on evenings or weekends.

Working Conditions:

● Program mobile sites in locations such as community centers, schools or churches, various event sites, meeting and professional development sites;

● Office setting;

● Travel in program vehicle to and from program site;

● Travel to the neighbor islands and continental U.S. may be required.

Equipment Use: Program vehicle, office equipment (computer, video and camera, printer, copier, scanner, bluetooth speaker system, microphone and headphones, cell phone, laminator, shredder), site and facility equipment.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

REQUIRED:

● Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field and six (6) months of experience working with young keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR

● Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field and one (1) year of supervised experience working with young keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR

● Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and one (1) year of supervised experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families;

● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva publishing and virtual meeting platforms;

● Must have a valid driver's license and a safe and responsible driving record.

PREFERRED:

● Six (6) months of experience using assessment and screening tools;

● Understanding of developmental screenings and assessments; preference with ECE instruments such as ASQ, and PPVT;

● Familiarity with databases such as QuickBase;

● Knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian culture and values.
