Island School seeks a Part-time Staff Accountant. Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the staff accountant will perform supportive functions in the accounting department which includes assisting in preparation of billing statements, maintaining files, and data entry using QuickBooks and Excel spreadsheets. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to perform various bookkeeping and job related duties. The candidate should have strong analytical skills, reliable, detail oriented, highly organized, able to multitask and meet deadlines. Pay range based on $20-25/hour depending on experience. (Position can possibly lead to full-time position).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Knowledge: Should have basic knowledge of bookkeeping and of operating the QuickBooks computer program; must accurately attend to details in accord with duties of the position.
Education/Training: High School diploma required, college training in accounting or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: Bookkeeping experience, Experience with Quickbooks, financial statements , bank reconciliations, Hawaii GE tax, general ledger transactions, is a plus!
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS –
For accounts payable, sort incoming invoices and prepare for processing, reconciling open invoices with vendor statements avoiding late fees
For accounts receivable, prepare and reconcile payments for deposits; also invoice tuition and other school charges.
For accounts receivable,receive and process new tuition contracts, including the complete of FACTS agreements or other arrangements for payments as directed by the Chief Financial Officer and providing written confirmation to families about these arrangements.
Maintain a log of tuition billing and accounts receivable inquiries, ensuring that the tuition logs and accounts receivable records balance.Be able to discriminate between private and general information and keep private information confidential.Keep all files current and in order and undertake other responsibilities as my be reasonable assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or Head of School
