Place-Based Program (pbHTA) Elementary School Teacher

Hawaii Technology Academy, a public charter school, seeks candidates for the positions of Place-Based Program (pbHTA) Elementary School Teacher (Ewa Beach Campus) for the 2024-2025 school year.

Candidates should have:

- bachelor’s or master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, or elementary education;

- a minimum of three years of experience teaching a wide range of elementary school levels;

- a passion for aina/place-based and project-based instruction;

- a desire to integrate and collaboratively design multidisciplinary curricula.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- providing face-to-face, place-based/project-based, and virtual instruction to students in your class;

- teaching a multi-grade class of students (either K-1, 2-3, or 4-5);

- preparing course content and designing project-based and place-based lessons;

- organizing field studies and projects that are integrated with the curriculum;

- serving as a support/guide for parents and learning coaches;

- working with and developing community partners;

- holding tutoring sessions with individual students and small groups;

- providing spaces for student voice and choice;

- researching and developing best practices in blended learning education and curriculum for elementary school students;

- collaboratively designing place-based and integrated curricula that focus on community impact, STEM skills, career investigations, and social-emotional learning;

- and working collaboratively with Administration, the Elementary School Team, and community partners.

Flexibility, creativity, and innovation stand at the heart of HTA’s program so the ideal candidate will be versatile with regard to skill sets and pedagogical approach to teaching and learning, and will preferably have experience in creating and delivering face-to-face and virtual courses. This position requires some inter-island travel, approximately 1-2 times per year, for professional development. This is an HSTA 10-month position.
