Job Description
Myron B. Thompson Academy is seeking qualified applicants for a K-12 Special Education teacher.
DUTIES: Primary responsibilities include teaching small groups and individual students with learning
disabilities. In addition the following summarizes the expectations of this position:
· Assessing children’s skills and learning requirements
· Designing Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)
· Collaborating with parents and school staff to track students’ progress
·
MINIMUM QUALIFICATiONS: Certified and licensed to teach in the discipline with demonstrated
excellence in area(s) of specialization. Degree in Special Education Desirable: Advanced degree;
strong record of scholarship and/or professional practice; online teaching; skill sets in reading and
math literacy; willing to serve as an advisor in co-curricular activities. Advance specialization in
working with autistic (elem.grades) will be a strong consideration.
SALARY:Commensurate with Hawaii Department of Education personnel salary schedule.
