We are looking for a gentle, calm, creative and sweet person to teach our 10 year old autistic son at home in Haiku, who will be entering into the 5th grade. He is very intelligent and thrives in a supportive environment. We have a little detached cottage for the home school classroom in a big beautiful yard full of fruit trees and lots of space to play, learn and explore! This will be a rewarding experience for the right gentle and patient person. A current teaching license/credential is required.
The ideal qualities for this teaching role are: loads of creativity, a fun loving attitude, the ability to improvise and problem-solve, flexible, adaptable, with a sweet soft demeanor and a reliably calm balanced presence.
Teacher will hold school Monday-Friday mornings at 9am, and the amount of hours will build incrementally over time. This position will be paid as a private contractor through the DOE.
