Description: Our client is currently seeking a CAD Designer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer to support our Client`s facility operations near Honolulu, Hawaii. This position is also open to telework, but would require 90% travel to Honolulu, Hawaii. As a CAD Designer, you will support the Client`s mission with design and CAD work. Your work will focus on maintaining and updating the Client`s facility documentation based on recently completed construction, proposed construction and existing drawings that have not been incorporated into the Client`s electronic systems. You`re a self-starter and team player dedicated to supporting the Client operations and mission needs in a dynamic work environment. You will prepare preliminary design concepts and/or design drawings, often of a complex nature, for mechanical, electrical, physical and site applications for engineering staff and customers. You`ll also prepare CAD drawings and illustrations in accordance with our Client`s requirements and drawing standards, and check all drawings generated in department for accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare plans and detail drawings, working from sketches or Engineers` notes.
- Select proper size drawing formats, drawing scales, and correct views and sections.
- Consult with engineering/originator for approval of basic concepts.
- Draft working drawings and wiring diagrams of electronic and electrical equipment for the erection, installation and repair of electrical equipment and wiring.
- Draw plans for installation of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Draw plans for structural, architectural and furniture layout.
- Check all drawings to assure incorporation of Client`s drafting manual standards and procedures, specific discipline standards, and other national standards as required; submit drawings for checking. - Assist drafters as necessary to prepare clear, concise and accurate drawings.
- Visit job sites and make preliminary layouts to check critical design problems, as necessary.
- Prepare cost estimates based on the work layout.
- Review design drawings and prepare review comments based on Client's standards.
- Prepare technical analyses including specifications and technical reports.

Minimum Requirements
- Vocational/technical training beyond high school
- At least 7 years of experience in design and drafting experience in facilities design and construction
- Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD software
- If the candidate is not located near Honolulu, Hawaii, then they will be required to travel 90% of the time to Honolulu, Hawaii for this role
- Due to the nature of the work,
- Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility AND polygraph
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of design experience in building documents development and maintenance in AutoCAD
- 1 to 3 years experience performing fieldwork to document existing conditions
- Knowledge of MicroStation and Revit
- Some experience in estimating work at a high level
- Understanding of the relevant codes and guidelines that apply to different types of work
