Minimum Education: B.S. Civil Engineering, Construction Management OR Equivalent Work Experience Estimating Infrastructure Repair Projects

Ability to pass drug test

Must possess a current driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Job Description:

Construction Estimator opportunity located in Honolulu, Hawaii

Summary of Position: Construction Estimator for City & County, State, Federal, and Private Industry Construction Projects

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist Upper Management with all project proposals as requested

Accurately estimate multiple projects simultaneously

Be proactive in all phases of estimating

When assigned a project be ready to discuss it at the weekly Operations Meeting

Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to prepare a job cost estimate and assemble bid packages

Have a full understanding of any administrative requirements for all bids

Review projects for compatibility with ASI’s overall core competencies

Research and analyze historic project data for application to current estimates

Review all requirements for technical proposals, be prepared and complete all requirements in a timely fashion. Seek out help as needed to address all required items

Make go/no go recommendations to Upper Management

Inform Upper Management and/or Sr. Estimator of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in plans and specifications

Use the request for information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)

Maintain in the job file, all correspondence records and notes for the project being bid (log all bid documents)

Communicate with general contractors, owners, vendors, and trades

Immediately respond to any vendor or subcontractor questions; resolve issues immediately and completely

DBE Good Faith Efforts; make sure all DBE requirements are met in a timely manner

Attend pre-bid meetings, or coordinate to have someone attend

Accurately complete all bid documents

Provide written documentation of any bid assumptions made during the estimating process

Prepare for and actively participate in Estimator to Project Manager Hand Off Meetings

If awarded a project, assist project manager to resolve any issues

Consistently exhibit outstanding work ethic, ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, ability to prioritize and deliver multiple tasks on time

Know when to ask for help or assistance

Maintain excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

Make and maintain strategic alliances outside of ASI

Stay up to date on industry best practices through continuing education

Gain proficiency with Spectrum and InEight Estimate

Constant improvement in proficiency with Microsoft and Google software (i.e., Excel, Word, Google Sheets/Docs, etc.)

Qualifications:

B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Equivalent Work Experience

Must be able to work in team environment

Has complete understanding of the Construction Estimating Process

Has a track record of successfully estimating Public Works Construction Contracts

Understands and has the ability to use the following computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Project

Has the ability to adapt to changes quickly

Strong communication skills

Ability and willingness to travel inter-island for meetings and may require overnight trips to visit project sites

Compensation:

Salary dependent on individual applicant’s experience and qualifications

Salary Range: $100,000.00 to $125,000.00
