Description An Accounting Clerk is being sought by Robert Half in the Retail industry, whose duties will be matching invoices to purchase orders/ vouchers, data entry, and assisting with Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). This is a short-term contract / temporary to hire employment based in the Honolulu, Hawaii area. Collaborate with Accounts Receivable: process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipt, and help with collection of past due balance

Mend discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required

Help Accounts Payable: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing

Broadcast financial information to journals and ledgers

Assemble statements and reports that require utilization of an array of sources

Arrange documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of expenditure codes and accounting codes

General accounting: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects

Requirements - Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment

Spreadsheet and ERP system experience recommended

AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred

Command of data entry

Research Discrepancies experience

Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel

Demonstrated knowledge of Daily Cash Receipts

General familiarity with Prepare Reports

Adeptness in Research Discrepancies

Account reconciliation experience

Proficiency in 10 Key Skills

Answers questions based on knowledge of general office functions. - Maintains liaison with a variety of personnel including vendors shippers accounting procurement etc. in performing duties. - May requisition and maintain office supplies as required. - Assists with inventory taking. - May sort and or distribute mail. - May perform and or assist with timekeeping functions as required. - Performs other related duties as assigned. - Carries out policy of courtesy and service. Exercises tact and good manners when serving and assisting internal and external customers. Focuses on fellow associates and external contact and responds both written and orally to inquiries and provides assistance in a prompt and friendly manner. Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Works independently within established framework of responsibility and consults with supervisor for guidance on unusual or difficult problems. Completed work is spot checked for accuracy and compliance with instructions and procedures. TRAINING REQUIREMENT Associate must receive hazardous material HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE 1 year progressively responsible clerical or office work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 1 year progressively responsible experience performing clerical or administrative support duties or experience in a related area which demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1 2 year academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 6 months of 1 year of general and 1 year specialized.
