DescriptionJob Summary:The Assistant Coach is responsible for coaching the program under the supervision and guidance of the Head Coach. The Assistant Coach will perform his/her duties in strict adherence to the rules and policies of the University, the Pacific West Conference and the NCAA. The position requires ability to travel with the team and work on weekends and evenings. In addition, the Assistant Coach must maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the Athletics Department, other college offices, and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the sports program.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year collegiate institution or equivalent experience of coaching acrobatics and tumbling at an intercollegiate level.

2 years of experience competing in or coaching a collegiate acrobatics & tumbling program.

Able to work all shifts and extended hours inclusive of nights and periodic weekends and holidays as needed,

Must have reliable transportation to all HPU worksites.

Desired Qualifications:

CPR/First Aid/AED certified

Demonstrated commitment to rules/policy compliance and a commitment to student-athlete success both academically and athletically

Two years of large scale office administration experience and working with diverse populations

Possess excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively communicate to students, faculty, and staff

Ability to learn technology solutions and possess technical skills

Self-motivated, ability to work independently, and possess high level of energy and an ability to work well in a team and demonstrate initiative and cooperation with others

Excellent organizational and communication skills including an ability to oversee a wide variety of activities, to define problems, to propose and implement effective solutions, while being able to set and readjust often competing priorities

Writing and editing skills, including strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task

A strong commitment to quality service

Other Qualifications:

Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.

Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.

Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle that is legally registered and insured.

This position may also require driving responsibility for an HPU vehicle.

Due to driving responsibilities, you must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with HPU's Vehicle Driving policy.

Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

Acrobatics and Tumbling Team-Develop, Teach, Coach and Guide student-athletes (55%):

Provide instruction to student-athletes during practice and competition hours.

Develop team members' skills and ensure the team has quality routines for the season

Practice accepted standardized safety in accordance with NCAA guidelines and NCATA rules and regulations.

Develop and maintain the morale/ integrity of student athletes to encourage and foster sportsmanship and pride within both the A&T team program and the University.

Effectively communicate, interpret, and uphold the expectations and responsibilities of the team members as outlined in the student handbook as well as student-athlete manual.

Ensure that all student-athletes adhere to all university and code of conduct rules.Develop and administer a successful sports program (35%):

Maintain morale and integrity of student-athletes and encourage and foster sportsmanship and pride within both the A&T team program and the University

Perform secretarial duties such as answering phones and responding to daily athletic inquiries

Fundraising and Community Service Efforts: (5%)

Assist with organizing and implementing program fundraising and community service initiatives.

Performs other related duties as assigned (5%)

Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.

Assists with seasonal peaks.
