OverviewWhat You’ll Be DoingCadmus seeks a survey and evaluation specialist to join the Market Research & Customer Insights team in the Energy Division. The survey specialist will be expected to draft, program, administer, and manage online survey efforts on behalf of Cadmus’ energy clients (primarily utilities and administrators of energy efficiency programs). The survey specialist will be responsible for managing and executing survey research tasks, analyzing the results of survey research, and creating written reports on the results.The survey specialist should have professional experience working with Qualtrics (Cadmus’ online survey platform) and have a passion for the field of energy efficiency or sustainability. Candidates should also be highly motivated to perform and learn, be able to work collaboratively and independently, manage assigned tasks and projects from start to finish with minimal input from supervisors, and have exceptional written, verbal, and research skills.Additionally, the survey specialist will independently manage long-term and short-term research projects, including conducting market research activities such as interviews, secondary research, analysis, and creating written reports and presentations of the findings, conclusions and recommendations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented problem-solver who balances strong technical and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and who is comfortable working closely with clients to find the right solution.For this role, Cadmus seeks candidates with professional experience in program evaluation, social science research methods, and/or energy efficiency or sustainability. Work independently to participate in energy-focused market research projects and manage survey research tasks.

Design high-quality data collection tools including interview guides and survey instruments to be programmed and administered through Qualtrics.

Provide attention to detail while executing quality assurance and control tasks for junior Qualtrics programmers. This includes sharing knowledge of best practices for testing survey programming.

Coordinate project-wide survey efforts, across multiple programs and survey authors (leveraging robust project management skills).

Conduct telephone interviews and surveys with energy efficiency program staff, utility customers, and other market actors.

Review survey, interview, and utility program data to identify trends, summarize key findings, and describe the relationship of program activities to program results.

Document results for clients through PowerPoint presentations, memos, and reports.

Provide administrative assistance to project managers through budget tracking and project planning.

Communicate professionally through telephone and email with out-of-state colleagues and clients, in varying time zones.

Select and apply appropriate analytic methods and solutions to address client questions.

Train junior staff on programming best practices.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience managing or leading market research projects using Qualtrics or other survey programming software (master’s degree may be counted towards years of experience).

Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, the social sciences, environmental studies, or a related field.

Advanced Qualtrics skills: survey customization via logic and flow, embedded data, quota management.

Experience conducting social science research, including interviews, surveys, focus groups, and/or literature reviews.

Strong critical thinking, data examination, and analytical skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proven organizational and time management skills.

Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Proficiency using data analysis software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python, DeDoose, NVivo, ArcGIS, etc.).

Some domestic travel may be required (less than 10%).

Preferred:

Prior consulting experience working independently to make decisions.

Experience with choice-based survey design and management.

Experience in energy sector, specifically electric and gas utilities.

Demonstrated project management experience.

Program evaluation experience.
