Description There is an opportunity with a terrific Construction/Contractor company for a full-time Staff Accountant. This Honolulu, Hawaii area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. Candidates with the ability to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close will be preferred. To succeed in this role, you will need to be comfortable participating in compliance, interacting with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and reviewing schedules reporting processes. You will be preferred for this role if you have a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation
Partake in various department-wide initiatives
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable
In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision
Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Requirements - Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Strong attention to detail
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Expertise in journal entries
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Proficient in ERP systems
