Summary:
Kohala Food Hub is a growing and dynamic organization with opportunities for advancement. To succeed in the Full Time Market Associate role, you must be hands on at the job site, work efficiently and at a quick pace, have a knack with people, be digitally and mathematically competent, and deliver excellent customer care. The Kohala Food Hub Associate performs hands-on work at the job site, off site on deliveries, in the field at participating farms, in the community, and with partners, and some administrative work both at the job site and remotely. The Kohala Food Hub Associate is responsible to perform some duties of other team members when necessary or assigned. While prior experience with the locally grown and made food is of benefit to this position, it is not absolutely necessary.
Important Information:
This position will be hired through our partner Kupu ‘Āina Corps, a federally funded workforce development Green Jobs Youth Corps Initiative. As such, we can only consider applicants between 17-36 years of age.

Executive Director, Director of Operations and Manager.
Kohala Food Hub Overview:
Kohala Food Hub is an aggregator, distributor, marketer and online marketplace of locally grown and produced food based in North Kohala. It is a 501(c)(3) organization focused on building food security and resilience on Hawai’i Island by providing essential services for locally-based farmers and food businesses to increase local food production, increasing community access to healthy locally grown food, and serving vulnerable populations in our community with free locally grown produce. Kohala Food Hub helps to build our local food system, strengthen our rural economy, and support regenerative agricultural practices that preserve the land and our natural environment for future generations. Primary Duties:
-Receive, portion, and pack locally grown and made foods for distribution to community program recipients, wholesale accounts, and retail accounts
-Deliver food to household doorsteps, pick-up locations and wholesale accounts
-Pick up food at farms and drive to the Kohala Food Hub site
-Process local produce into value-added products including juices, dehydrated fruits, minimally processed foods, and cold and hot meals
-Clean and sanitize at the aggregation location (workspace, delivery vehicle(s), food processing equipment and supplies, restroom)
-Perform trash runs to transfer station
-Maintain food safety protocols, quality assurance, and good agricultural practices
-Maintain temperature logs and cleaning checklists
-Administrative duties including working with email, text, phone call, Google Workspace, Local Food Marketplace and other digital platforms
-Communication with customers and producers
-Represent organization at community outreach events
-Assist farmers with cleaning and sanitizing produce and eggs
-Install and post signage and flyers
-Perform other duties as may be assigned by management
Schedule and Compensation:
-$20/hour
-Full time and Part time position available: Full time up to 40 hours/week, Part time up to 20 hours/week. Mondays-Fridays with occasional special events on weekends as needed.

-Mileage: compensation for use of personal vehicle for performance of job duties if needed (excluding normal commute) at prevailing IRS Rate.

Qualifications:
-Minimum of one year’s experience working with Internet, Email, Text Messaging,
-Microsoft Office, Google Workspace or equivalent.
-Free of criminal background that bears a rational relationship to the job
-High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
Working Conditions:
-Able to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs., push, pull, and carry for long periods of time
-Partially covered outdoor space where work is required in various temperatures and weather. Administrative duties must at times be conducted in Kohala Food Hub’s packing area and office and at other times from the employee's home.
-Reliable transportation and use of personal cell phone to perform some job duties
