Part time Schedule: Thursday's and Friday's (only) 6am - 430pm

Pay Rate: $17.00/hr.

Job Description:

1) Customer Service

- Make eye contact and smile at each customer you come within 10 feet of and greet all customers you come within four feet of.

- Find out what the customer wants

- Get what the customer wants: Accurately, Politely, Enthusiastically

- Go the extra mile for the customer – do something for them that they are not expecting

- Be knowledgeable about the products we sell and help customers with their questions

- Find help if you don’t know the answer to a customer’s question

- When a customer is unhappy do everything, you can make them happy

2) Merchandising

- Follow the 8 Golden Rules of Merchandising (these are posted in each store).

Key ones are:

- No holes ever

- Bulk: clean & full

- Produce: fresh, abundant, and well culled

- Follow shelf tags, and ensure every item has one

- Ensure every promo item has a proper sign

- Keep the store clean

- Clean the shelves

- Keep the store’s merchandising at a high standard every day

3) Profit

- Being friendly and helpful to customers

- Ensure the department and store is clean, well-stocked, well organized and well merchandised

- Work productively and avoid wasting time by working efficiently

- Work safely, as injuries are extremely expensive to both the individual who is injured and to the company

- Take care of equipment and facilities to minimize repairs

- Use supplies sparingly

- Work co-operatively with your fellow team members and managers

4) Safety

- Volunteer to assist with inspections

- Correct any items brought to your attention

- Use your back belt, oven mitts, wizard gloves

- Wear safety footwear

- Do the stretching exercises every shift.

- Ensure your co-workers do them as well

- Ensure all new team members receive a safety orientation to your store/department

- Join your store’s safety council

- Read the minutes of the meetings

- Make safety suggestions to council members

- Make sure the meetings are being held every month

- Make sure you received your monthly safety training

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Friendly, courteous manner in dealing with a variety of situations and personalities

- Ability to read, write, and speak English well

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Find out what the customer wants: engage customers by using the 10/4 Rule: If a customer is within 10 feet, make eye contact with the customer and smile. If a customer is within 4 feet, visibly acknowledge the customer and greet them

Get the product for them accurately, politely, and enthusiastically (APE): Either get the product, or take the customer to the product, or to the department/area of the store, that the customer is asking about.

Attendance at work is regular and punctual

Be productive

Know, understand, and support the company’s purpose as stated in its mission statement, core values, and other corporate governing documents.

Know, understand, follow, and enforce the company’s policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook and other documents.

Know, understand, follow, and ensure other team members follow all department policies and procedures.

Know, understand, follow, and ensure customers receive a 100% satisfactory experience by constantly utilizing the 3 Steps to Giving Great Service:

1) Figure out what the customer wants using the 10/4 rule – 10ft make eye contact, 4 ft acknowledge and greet the customer

2) Get it for them- accurately, politely, and enthusiastically

3) Go the extra mile – do something the customer did not ask for will make them feel special.

5 Steps to Handling a Complaint:

1) Acknowledge the Complaint

2) Apologize: Be Empathetic

3) Make it Right

4) Thank Them

5) Document Complaints – Report to the MOD.

Work cooperatively with all fellow team members to ensure the success of the business doing whatever is necessary, even if it is not specified within this job description.

Always communicate well with all Team Members, politely and professionally, including responding when spoken to and acknowledging Team Members.

Attendance at work is regular and punctual.

- Lifting: frequently up to 15 pounds, occasionally up to 30 pounds, rarely up to 50 pounds (e.g., stocking, customer service, cashiering)

- Carrying: frequently up to 15 pounds, occasionally up to 30 pounds, rarely up to 50 pounds (stocking, customer service, cashiering)

- Pushing/Pulling: occasionally up to 50 pounds (e.g., stocking, customer service)

- Stooping, bending, and kneeling frequently (e.g., stocking, purchasing)

- Handling: frequently (e.g., cash, product, papers, files)

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

- Frequently works indoors in air-conditioned store and office settings and with store and office equipment such as cash registers, trolleys, dolly’s, refrigeration equipment, computers, telephone, microwaves, etc.

- Occasionally works in refrigerated spaces e.g., walk in chill boxes and freezers. Freezers can be down too minus 10 degrees.

- Occasionally works outdoors in covered and uncovered areas and are exposed to vehicle fumes and the elements, e.g., receiving product.
