Service Counter - Kakaako Area
Temporary – Full time
Schedule:
Hours and days may vary. The current schedule that would work for us would be:
Sunday-Saturday 6:30-3pm
Sunday-Saturday 12:15-8:45pm
Pay Rate: $18.00/hr.
Job Description:
- Greet all customers with a friendly greeting. Call for assistance when customers come to the counter and have not been greeted and helped.
- Make orders according to recipes.
- Wash dishes after use.
- Keep counters and other areas clean.
- Prepare food as needed including back up preparations.
- Make espresso drinks using espresso machine.
- Make blended drink according to recipes using blenders.
- Make fresh juices according to recipe using juicer.
- Keep the floor in front area of the deli clean and free of debris including around the Hot Bar and Salad bar.
- Keep the glass clean on the Deli and Bakery cases using wet and dry cloths.
- Assist customers on kiosk for orders when needed.
- Fill the paper goods for the customers to use when needed, including, plates, cups, napkins, cookie bags, forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks, etc. Restock these items at the end of the shift.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Able to respond promptly to customer needs and manages difficult or emotional customer situations well, and offer fast, friendly, and efficient service
- Ability to read, write, and speak English well
- Contribute to building a positive team spirit
- Previous natural foods retail experience preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Find out what the customer wants: engage customers by using the 10/4 Rule: If a customer is within 10 feet, make eye contact with the customer and smile. If a customer is within 4 feet, visibly acknowledge the customer and greet them
- Get the product for them accurately, politely, and enthusiastically (APE): Either get the product, or take the customer to the product, or to the department/area of the store, that the customer is asking about.
- Attendance at work is regular and punctual
- Be productive
- Know, understand, and support the company’s purpose as stated in its mission statement, core values, and other corporate governing documents.
- Know, understand, follow, and enforce the company’s policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook and other documents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing: constantly
- Walking: frequently (e.g., in the kitchen and front of the Deli)
- Climbing: occasional e.g. (ladders up to 6 feet above ground, stairs)
- Lifting: frequently up to 15 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Carrying: frequently up to 15 pounds, occasionally up to 25 Pounds.
- Pushing/Pulling: occasionally up to 50 pounds (e.g., bringing food and raw materials to and from the kitchen).
- Stooping, bending, and kneeling: occasionally
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently works indoors air-conditioned store settings e.g., front of the Deli, and kitchen area subject to heat from ovens and steamers. Works with kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, stovetops, refrigeration equipment, microwaves, etc.
- Occasionally works in refrigerated spaces e.g., walk-in chill boxes and freezers. Freezers can be down too minus 10 degrees
- Occasionally works outdoors in covered and uncovered areas and are exposed to vehicle fumes and the elements, e.g., bringing food and raw materials to and from the kitchen.
