Join our team at Kauai Plantation Railway where we offer conductor narrated train tours and guided nature walks around the beautiful 105 acer Kilohana Plantation.

We are hiring part-time and full-time for the following positions.

Train Conductor Tour Discription: The Kauai Plantation Railway recreates the days when diesel-powered narrow-gauge Locomotives moved the harvested cane from the fields to the mill, and raw sugar from the mill to the wharf for shipment. Today we are running two 1948 25 Ton, General Electric, Diesel Electric Locomotives. The same type used in the sugarcane fields.

Climb aboard our 40-minute conductor-narrated tour of the 105-acre Kilohana Plantation. Relax in our floor to ceiling mahogany wood cars while you are entertained and educated by our knowable conductors. The 2.5-mile rail line passes stands of original island crops like sugarcane and taro – the staple of ancient Hawaiians. You will also pass groves of mango, banana, papaya, pineapple, and then on to experimental plantings of longan, cashew, hybrid mango, noni, and atamoya. We also have native and exotic Hardwoods from around the world. Learn about Kauai’s agriculture, history and legends. Well out into the heart of the plantation you get to disembark to spend some time feeding the pigs, goats, sheep, and our friendly donkey Stiney. Bring the whole family, It’s fun for all ages.

Nature Walk Guide Tour Discription: Your Adventure begins when you climb aboard our Signature Train Tour and head out into the heart of our 105-acre Kilohana Plantation. At the animal feed stop you will disembark to feed our herd of Wild Pigs, Goats & Sheep. You will then follow your guide as you tour our grove of coconut trees, Taro loi’s and fruit orchards. This is NOT a race; it is a leisurely 45-minute level walk. You will be stopping frequently to learn about all the Beautiful exotic tropical flowers & plants. You will then relax and enjoy a delicious deli style lunch where we will cut a fresh pineapple at your table for desert. Then you will stroll through our rare and native hardwoods with a stop to meet our friendly alpacas. Then it's all aboard the train and back to the depot.

Job Requirements:

Positive attitude and good physical health. Must be able to walk 3 miles comfortably.

Prior Tour Guiding Experience

Have a general knowledge of fruits, plants, and native trees.

Comfortable speaking to large groups

Shifts are as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, 9:00 am – 3:15 pm

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 9:00 – 3:00, 4:00 – 6:30.

Pay depends on experience.

Must be able to work weekends.

Healthcare provided to full time employees.
