Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Join Dr. J. Edward DeBoard’s concierge-style internal medicine practice and become an essential member of a small, highly skilled team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in creating a calm, welcoming, and efficient experience for every patient who walks through our doors.

Because our practice intentionally maintains a smaller, membership-based patient panel, we are able to offer a high-touch, attentive level of service. We’re looking for a CMA who values meaningful patient relationships, demonstrates excellent attention to detail, and brings a compassionate, patient-centered mindset to every interaction.

In this role, you will support both the clinical and administrative aspects of the practice—from preparing patients for their visits to assisting with procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and helping ensure the smooth flow of day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is warm, organized, proactive, and motivated to contribute to a practice where quality of care—not volume—is the priority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical & Patient Care

-Assist the physician during patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a comfortable, efficient, and supportive environment.

-Conduct components of the annual wellness program, including vision and hearing screenings, PFT, ECG, ABI, and agility assessments.

-Perform routine clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, administering medications, collecting and preparing lab specimens, and ensuring exam rooms are stocked and ready.

-Educate patients on treatment plans, medication instructions, preventive care measures, and follow-up steps.

Administrative & Operational Support

-Accurately manage patient records and documentation within the electronic health record (EHR), maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA standards.

-Schedule appointments, coordinate follow-up care and referrals, and help maintain smooth patient flow throughout the practice.

-Support membership enrollment and ongoing membership management to enhance patient engagement and ensure a seamless patient experience.

Core Competencies

-Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining patient records and supporting clinical protocols.

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering a warm, informative, and professional environment for patients.

-Ability to collaborate effectively with a small healthcare team to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care.

-Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing patient needs and clinical demands.

-Demonstrated empathy, patience, and professionalism when addressing patient concerns.

Qualifications

-High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assistant program required.

-Current Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA).

-Knowledge of medical terminology and competency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

-Understanding of OSHA and HIPAA standards and commitment to regulatory compliance.

-Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as EPIC or Athena preferred.
