The Salvation Army ATS is seeking to fill a TEMPORARY In-Facility Family Counselor position. Under the direct supervision of the Correctional Services Clinical Supervisor, the In-Facility Family Counselor (temporary, 40 hours/wk) is primarily responsible for the provision of education presentations and coordinating counseling services for the Bridge program participants, family members, and significant others of clients in Laumaka Work Furlough Center and Women’s Community Correctional Center Work Furlough program. The Family Counselor provides assessment and treatment planning services, progress notes, discharge documentation for Bridge program participants. As needed and in addition, the Family Counselor may also add to their roll and provide services as a Substance Abuse Counselor for sentenced offenders participating in correctional treatment continuum of care funded by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR).
Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, preferred with at least one year of specific training and experience in family counseling, required; professional license or license in progress, preferred; and at least 2 years of experience working with offenders, persons in substance use disorder treatment and early recovery. CSAC also preferred. Able to work with facility staff and adhere to facility structure while upholding good clinical practice and contract standards. Able to initiate responsible actions with minimal direct daily supervision and requires leadership abilities, effective verbal and written communication skills, maturity, insight and sound judgment.
