Position Summary
In accordance with Hina Mauka policies and procedures, the Registered Nurse performs direct evaluation and therapeutic interactions with patients at Hina Mauka. The nursing duties are to assist patients to restore and promote health by encouraging active participation in substance use, mental health, and medical treatments.
I. Essential Functions
1. Collaborate and consult with physicians, APRN, and multidisciplinary team members to discuss, assess, and be active in patient treatment.
2. Assess appropriateness of admission of patients to Residential Treatment and Withdrawal management. Assist in referral or transfer of member if clinically indicated.
3. Communicate with referral sources including community medical and behavioral providers, hospitals, and other facilities regarding patients admitted Hina Mauka.
4. Identify patient care needs by establishing rapport and communication with patients.
5. Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards.
6. Maintain safe environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations of Hina Mauka.
7. Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
8. Adhere to medication administration policies and storage procedures including controlled substances
9. Follow controlled State of Hawaii and Federal controlled substance regulations
10. Document patient care services by charting in patient’s medical record.
11. Maintain continuity among nursing team members by documenting and communicating actions, continuing needs, and irregularities.
12. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, and calling for repairs, and evaluating and ordering new equipment as needed by medical department.
13. Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level.
14. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops and continuing educational requirements.
15. Maintain knowledge regarding substance use and current updates on treatments.
16. Maintain cooperative relationships among medical department members by communicating information and participating in team problem solving methods.
II. Other Functions
1. Performs other related duties as assigned
III. Qualification Requirements
Education/Experience and Training
1. Current State of Hawaii R.N. license
2. CPR and first aid certified
IV. Physical Demands:
1. Lift/carry up to 25 pounds. Occasional standing/walking. Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment.
2. May be exposed to infectious and contagious disease.
3. May perform emergency care.
