About the Company:

The Arc in Hawaii is a non-profit organization with 70 years of history in Hawaii. We provide both residential and day services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our mission is to support the inclusion and participation of individuals with IDD in their respective communities throughout their lifetime.

Role:

We are seeking an HR Assistant to perform a variety of human resource functions to support efficient departmental operations.

Responsibilities:

Maintains confidentiality.

Onboards new employees, including conducting orientation and new hire training.

Conducts pre-screening of applicants and forwards applications to appropriate supervisors for consideration.

Conducts background checks of job-offered applicants.

Creates and maintains personnel files and records, ensuring accuracy and security; sets up new hire files and closes files for terminated employees; organizes, archives, and stores HR-related documents from prior years.

Assists with processing HR forms including PAFs, employment verifications, personnel information changes, new hire/termination, and other personnel-related paperwork.

Provides support in carrying out human resources programs, projects, and procedures across various HR functional areas, as assigned.

Maintains and updates employee forms.

Assists employees with their requests.

Carries out miscellaneous duties as requested by the HR Manager / President/CEO.

Requirements:

2 years of related work experience

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization (in English)

Organized, detail-oriented, reliable (follow up on assignments)

Able to work independently and follow directions

Proficiency in MS Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe

Smartphone

Work Clearances (Conditions of Employment):

Pre-employment drug test

Physical exam

FBI fingerprinting

Adult Protective Services (APS) and Child Abuse & Neglect (CAN) registries

Criminal history check

Must remain current on all work clearances

Must attend all required trainings

Drug test, FBI fingerprinting/APS/CAN/criminal history, and physical exam are paid for by The Arc in Hawaii.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s or higher degree in Human Resource Management or related field

Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week

Pay: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
