Work trade
Looking for a committed worktrader who wants to live close to nature in community on an organic family farm. 15 hrs (3) 5 hr days plus 3 animal feedings in the morning (approx. 30 min each) per week in exchange for comfortable glamping accommodations, with use of communal living spaces on a beautiful farm on the north shore.
Accommodations include a private screened in short bus with bed platform, communal kitchen with solar and WiFi, clean filtered artisan well water, shared outdoor bathroom with biogas toilet and hot outdoor shower. Space to garden.
You are: a self starter, clean: in mind, body, energy, and space personal as well as shared. Experienced in work trade and helping on a farm in some way. Comfortable being outdoors, in this heat, hard working. Someone who likes getting their hands in the land and a hard days work. Enjoys being around children and animals. A good communicator. A team player. Punctual and reliable, showing up on time, all the time. This is very important.
We are: a 4 year old family farm with a few community members. We live the life we love, we love the life we live.
In our community we have an herbalist/surfer/dancer, her 3 year old daughter, a skydiver, a woodworker/electrician/wildman, a animal loving/massage therapist/creative, a musician/surfer turned fulltime farmer father, and a tie dye making music loving mother of 3. We love living close to nature and respect Mother Earth and all she provides. We see it as a privilege and responsibility to caretake this sacred land.
We appreciate clear, honest communication and we do our best to lead by example. We value authenticity and showing up.
We are a family that has 2 parents, 3 kids, 5 other community members, 4 dogs, 3 cats, 6 goats, 10 sheep, 2 pigs, 9 chickens, 6 chicks, 13 ducks … at the moment. We specialize in organic fruit orchards.
We love making group dinners, hosting full moon drum circles and fires, and the idea of creating a village. We live as sustainably as possible, do not pay much attention to the news, and enjoy going to the ocean.
What we are looking for: a person who is also looking for this exact situation and not just a cheap or free rent. We are looking for someone who wants to wake up early and be with animals and loves the quiet of the country. A person who is feeling called by Mother Earth for their own benefit to connect with nature and others in a giving way that helps the whole. A person who wants to be here for the right reasons that we do not have to force to put their time into the farm. Someone who loves it here as much as we do.
We are asking for a minimum of 6 months and hoping for longer.
Tasks would include: weeding California grass, gardening, weed whacking, caring for orchards, mulching, assisting in light building projects, light cleaning, animal care, farm chores.
