Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Field Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting geotechnical investigations, testing, and quality assurance for a variety of projects. This role involves both field and laboratory work and requires a hands-on approach to data collection and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct on-site soil, rock, and groundwater sampling using standard geotechnical techniques.
Perform in-situ testing and other field assessments.
Monitor and document field activities, including soil boring logs and site conditions.
Conduct laboratory testing on soil and rock samples to assess their physical and mechanical properties.
Operate and maintain field testing equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Work closely with project engineers, managers, and clients to communicate findings and ensure quality control.
Prepare detailed and accurate field and lab reports for submission to the project team.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in geology, geosciences, or a related field is preferred.
Experience in geotechnical fieldwork, soil sampling, and testing is an asset but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
Strong understanding of geotechnical concepts, equipment, and testing procedures.
Proficiency with field and laboratory equipment, including drilling rigs, GPS devices, and soil testing tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift/move equipment as needed.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the company office.
