Position: Farm worker
Hours: 1-2 days/week usually, up to 4 days/week at times
Pay: $15-18/hr negotiable, with raises at 1 month, 3 months, and 1year
Location: Ninole, 600ft elevation.
Crops: Bananas, Turmeric, Rambutan, Lychee
Job Duties: Banana maintenance that includes pruning, digging keiki, fertilizing, weeding, out planting new fields, etc. Turmeric work includes weeding, fertilizing, harvesting. Other jobs on the farm: whipping, mowing with tractor, tree pruning, digging guinea grass, hand weeding, chain sawing trees. Since we’re an organic farm a lot of the work is manual weed management with hands, whips, shovels, machetes.
Requirements: Your own transportation. Have to be farm strong to do the work (digging with the shovel, machete work, and work rain or shine etc.). Would be good to have previous farming experience and know how to run a weedwhip, walk behind mower, chainsaw etc. Open attitude to learning is good, I’ll help train you up on the jobs and teach you about soil fertility, etc. Workplace is also drug free.
