Maintenance Assistant
Location: Waikiki, Hawaii
We have an immediate openings for Maintenance Assistants to assist with all aspects of
building maintenance for two 25-story high-rise residential condominium towers located in
beautiful Waikiki, Hawaii. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills, strong
attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot maintenance-related issues, and make overall
repairs in the common areas of the property. The Maintenance Assistant reports directly to the
Maintenance Supervisor.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. This position may require the Maintenance Assistant to be on-call for emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Payrate: $22/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform all general maintenance work and repairs in the common areas of the property.
Inspection of all major equipment, including the air conditioning chillers and cooling tower,
water heater and gas heaters, all related pumps and controllers, booster pump system,
emergency power generator, pool, jacuzzi, Koi Pond, BBQ areas, trash rooms, etc.
Being technically proficient in plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, masonry, pool and
water features, etc.
Perform other general tasks including wall and concrete repairs, drywall repairs, and pipe
repairs/replacement (cast iron, ABS, and PVC).
Assist with all water damage remediation, repairs, and follow-up.
Generate maintenance reports, logs, and document issues using computer software.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain a safe working environment
through the use of regular safety programs, training, and solid procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of maintenance and operations experience in a high-rise
condominium or experience at a similar facility.
Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and
structural components.
Ability to perform physical labor and operate tools and equipment related to building
maintenance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and facility management software; ability to prepare
clear, data-driven reports.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English (spoken and written).
Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Willingness to work on-call, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Maintain access to reliable transportation to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of documented success in high-rise condominium or commercial
building maintenance.
Certifications or formal training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related systems.
OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
Work Environment:
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions,
physical activity, and the use of power tools, hand tools, and equipment.
