Girl Scouts of Hawai'i is looking for a part-time After School Leadership Program Advisor at Waimea Elementary School.
The employment period for this position is October 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020 and is subject to annual renewal. Paid training is provided prior to the start date. This is a part-time position (6-7 hours/week) that is responsible for leading and facilitating the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls in 2nd and 3rd grade.
The program operates one day a week for 1½ hours immediately after school when school is in session. The day can be accommodated to your schedule. Additional time is available for planning, record keeping, communicating, etc.
Advisors are employed by Girl Scouts of Hawai'i and are compensated for preparing, leading, and concluding program activities. Advisors are expected to be available at the school location at least 15 minutes prior to the conclusion of the regular school day.
A successful candidate must:
Be energetic, trustworthy, and committed to the values of Girl Scouting
Have the temperament and desire to work with 2nd and 3rd grade girls with a basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate behaviors and skills
Be an independent and innovative thinker and problem solver who is able to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with parents, school staff, community members, and Girl Scout staff
Have a computer and be proficient in its use for communication, reporting and meeting preparation
Be able to work rare but occasional weekends
Undergo a comprehensive background check
Have a Bachelor's degree, be working toward a degree in a related field, or have two years' work experience in youth programs
The successful candidate will be required to become an adult member of Girl Scouts USA ($25 membership fee)
