The Housing Specialist II primarily assists Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) clients with their housing search and permanent housing placement process by accessing and developing housing service plans based on eligible clients’ needs and challenges. This may include, but are not limited to: serving as an advocate and a liaison with landlords, Section 8, the Public Housing Authority, and the HUD-VASH program. The Housing Specialist II also identifies and develops relationships with landlords open to providing affordable housing units to Veterans and their families; and, establishes and maintains professional relationships with community-at-large groups, property managers, parishes, and other stakeholder agencies. The Housing Specialist II must demonstrate an active commitment to Catholic Charities Mission and strive to incorporate the four Core Values in all aspects of daily work.
EDUCATIONAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s degree in Human Services or related field required and four (4) years’ experience working with the targeted client’s group, property management, business environment or related field. May also consider High School diploma plus six (6) years’ experience working with the targeted client groups. Must maintain HUD Housing Counselor certification.
EMPLOYMENT CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: FBI Clearance, HI State Criminal Check, Driver’s License, Access to Vehicle with Current Valid Registration, Safety Check, and No-Fault Insurance, must be eligible for unaccompanied access to Department of Defense installations, such as Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Schofield Barracks, Tripler Army Medical Center, and other facilities in the State of Hawai’i, Education Verification
COMPENSATION: $44,195.91 – 51,470.37
