Program Activities Coordinator

Primary Purpose:

This position involves the building of relationships with community organizations and businesses in order to provide opportunities for RCH program participants to experience living and actively participating in activities found in their home communities utilizing a Person-Centered approach. The Program Activities Coordinator is supervised by the Operations Director, and in his/her absence, the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential Job Functions:

Seek, build, and maintain relationships with community organizations and businesses that will provide activities that may interest program participants.

Research new ideas for programs and activities, taking into consideration participants’ suggestions.

Lead the coordination of meaningful participant activities (recreational/volunteer), as well as any support needed during the activities.

Ensure a safe and fun environment for all participants.

Initiate and plan the monthly calendar in conjunction with Program Supervisors/Team Leaders, as well as communicate effectively with coworkers to initiate daily programs and activities.

Confirm bookings/reservations with host site as needed and ensure any applicable fees are paid as needed.

Collect data to evaluate the success of each activity or outing, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Thorough understanding of event planning practices and techniques.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Apple products.

Ability to create, build, and maintain relationships with community members to grow a network of supportive local-area businesses and organizations.

Basic data evaluation skills to be built upon.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and/or standing overseeing activities.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Ability to set up and participate in activities, which may include squatting, bending, and lifting.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple duties

Must have a valid driver’s license, own insured vehicle, and ability to be insured by Responsive Caregivers of Hawai`i’s insurance carrier
