MNA Environmental, an environmental studies and consulting firm, is seeking candidates for
Environmental Specialist or Environmental Scientist positions to join its growing team. MNA is an
established woman-owned small business in Hawaii that values team work, integrity, and the
pursuit of excellence in our work. MNA’s headquarters are in Aiea and has reporting centers in
Hilo, Michigan, California, and Guam to support government and commercial clients on various
projects ranging from environmental compliance to construction support.
These are entry-level positions in the environmental design, studies, and consulting field. The
positions involve a variety of field and office tasks associated with environmental investigations,
assessments, and reporting. These roles offer opportunities for cross-training in a variety of
practice areas including soil and groundwater contamination, water quality monitoring, and
environmental due diligence. Under the supervision of experienced team members, daily tasks may
include:
Conducting sampling of soil and groundwater or other media for analysis of environmental
pollutants
Documenting field activities accurately
Using Microsoft Office software to draft analytical data tables and charts
Conducting investigations, such as Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments per
ASTM International standards
Writing technical work plans and reports
Conducting research on environmental contaminants and issues as well as federal, state, and
local regulations, and various agency protocols
The positions require:
U.S. Citizenship
A formal education in environmental science, engineering, biology, chemistry, geology, or
a related science field. An associate’s degree or certificate will be considered, but a
bachelor’s or master’s degree is a plus.
A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Capability with Windows operating system computer, including Microsoft Word and Excel
at the intermediate level.
Ability to obtain base passes for U.S. military installations.
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Ability to travel throughout the Pacific Region and beyond.
The following are desirable but not required:
Knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations
Experience with graphics, mapping, GPS, or GIS software
Asbestos and lead inspector certifications, HAZWOPER, or other relevant certification
The successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, communication skills,
respect different opinions, and an interest in public health/safety and environmental issues. The
successful candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams.
