Primary Responsibilities:
The Security Specialist contributes to the success of a local business by assisting with loss prevention primarily through access control and overall security protection of employees, customers, and property. Provides security presence as a visible deterrent to crime, accidents, and rules infraction. Detect and report unsafe, criminal, and suspicious activity which may pose a threat to employees, customers, and property. Maintain compliance of safety and security protocols in accordance with Company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Essential Duties:
Compliance with Company Confidentiality Agreement.
Comply and uphold Company house rules, policies, and procedures.
Observes and reports activities and incidents on Company property; also immediate adjacent properties providing safety and security of property and personnel.
Assist in identifying high risk areas and initiates actions to reduce risk exposure.
Make periodic foot patrols to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control apparatus.
Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
Controls access to facility through the admittance process.
Record daily employee attendance on Department rosters.
Patrols assigned buildings, materials, and vehicles to check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations; blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized people.
Protects evidence or scene of incidents in the events of accidents, injuries emergencies, or security preliminary investigations.
Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other emergencies, in accordance with Company Emergency Action Plan.
Prepare and submit daily logs and/or reports.
Maintain regular and immediate communication with Building & Resource` Manager and in his absence the COO/CFO any urgent security concerns requiring actions or notification.
Maintain security priorities for access and patrols and other duties/projects as assigned.
Attributes, Skills & Qualifications:
Five years’ security experience in retail or hospitality industry.
Must be able to meet any applicable state, county, and federal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
Polite, approachable, and professional manner at all times.
Requires a trustworthy character, honest and ethical in security related decisions.
Good human relations skills, strong verbal, and written communication skills required.
Skills and experience in conflict resolution.
Demonstrated ability to remain flexible and responsible and adapt to changing priorities.
Have the ability to practice a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Enforce restricted access to non-public and secure areas.
Helpful to have word, excel or outlook computer skills.
Must have TB clearance.
Must have Hepatitis A proof of vaccinations.
Working Conditions:
Outdoor work environment with occasional warehouse or air-conditioned areas.
Occasionally reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Frequent standing, walking, which may be required for long periods of time with occasional sitting and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
Work Hours:
Will be required to work in various shifts during normal, extended, and seasonal operations. This may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts. Days off may vary week to week.
Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certificates:
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have a valid Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs –Professional & Vocational Licensing (DCCA-PVL) Guard Employee (GDE) license.
Attend and complete 4 hours of a DCCA Board approved continuing education course given by an instructor which has been approved by the Board to renew license registration.
Keep required biennial June 30 records every even numbered year of continuing education and be subject to Board’s random audits after a renewal period.
Physical Requirements:
Require frequent standing.
A reasonable level of physical fitness and strength.
May require lifting and or moving up to 40 pounds.
Pay Rate:
$18.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
