Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Marine Painter to join our vessel maintenance and boatbuilding team. The ideal candidate takes pride in high-quality finishes, works well in both dry dock and construction environments, and follows strict safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities:
Prepare vessel surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, and fairing as needed.
Mix and apply fairing compounds, primers, paints, and marine coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
Follow paint schedules, technical specifications, and work instructions.
Ensure coatings meet required thickness and coverage standards.
Inspect finished work for quality and correct any imperfections.
Operate and maintain painting tools and equipment.
Assist with scaffolding, containment setup, or other prep work as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized shop area and ensure tools, parts, and supplies are in safe working condition.
Comply with all safety procedures, including proper storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to work 35-40 hours per week, with overtime approval from a supervisor or manager.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (truck preferred). Out-of-state licenses require a driver’s abstract upon hire.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings/blueprints, and procedure manuals.
Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions.
Must have a reliable means of contact, such as a cell phone.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of marine painting techniques, materials, and tools.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality workmanship.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Critical thinker and problem solver with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Trustworthy, responsible, and reliable.
Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PDF; CAD experience a plus).
Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and maintain a clean workspace.
