Water Operations - Primary Duties:
Provides maintenance and repair for water distribution systems and water treatment plants including but not limited to wells, pumps, water catchments and storage systems, water filtration treatment plants, distribution piping, valves, fire hydrants and valves, flow control devices, taps, line stops, backflows, chlorination, and leak detection.
Performs daily operations and maintenance inspections such as checking chemical feed systems, water collection and storage sites, water filtration treatment plants, and facility distribution system components.
Install, maintain, repair, modify, troubleshoot, and service plant operations machinery and equipment including pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, reservoirs, and feeders.
Installs flow meters, and backflow/cross connection prevention assemblies as assigned.
Wastewater Operations - Primary Duties:
Performs maintenance in wet well solids, removal and disposal.
Ensures proper maintenance of pumps and motors.
Makes daily operations and maintenance inspections at assigned lift stations; monitor operating conditions, meters and gauges. Ensure proper maintenance of all equipment.
Rinse down holding tanks, level sensors, and clean as necessary.
Qualifications
High School diploma; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2+ years of recent work-related experience in water distribution systems or water treatment plants preferred.
2+ years of recent work-related experience in wastewater treatment plants preferred.
Current Hawaii Distribution System Operator (DSO) Grade 1 or higher or Water Treatment Plant Operator (WTPO) Grade 1 or higher preferred.
Current Hawaii Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) certification preferred.
Valid driver’s license with a clean traffic abstract.
Mechanically inclined and competent using with hand-held tools.
Electrical background a plus.
Must be able to clear background checks for access to secure work sites.
