Security Officer-in-Training, CAT3 Location HI - Kaua'i Job Code 11785 # of openings 1 Apply Now (https://phg.tbe.taleo.net/phg04/ats/careers/v2/applyRequisition?org=AKIMEKATECH&cws=43&rid=11785) The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Security Officer-in-Training, CAT3 to support our government customer located in Kekaha, Hawai'i. This is a comprehensive Security Officer Training Course that trains personnel to Navy standards as an armed Security Officer. Selection for this training will be based on a panel interview, physical agility testing, weapons familiarization testing, and satisfactory results of other pre-employment requirements (security clearance, drug testing, physical exam, psychological testing, etc.). This four-week training program involves three weeks of skills training and one week of on-the job training. Skills training encompasses weapons training and qualifications on three different weapons (pistol, rifle, shotgun), physical agility testing, CPR/1st Aid/AED, airfield vehicle operations, non-lethal weapons, Navy personnel qualification standards, and Navy job qualification requirements. While in training, personnel will be paid at the rate of Security Officer (Category 3) less $1 per hour. Upon successful completion of the training, personnel may be offered employment as a Security Officer (Category 3). Conducts training that prepares one to perform security duties on a Navy installation to protect personnel and property against illegal entry, sabotage, theft, accidental damage, fire, and various criminal activities. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Complies with all orders for security officers.

General duties include but are not limited to:

controlling installation entry and exit control;

controlling movement of vehicles and persons;

performing area/building security checks;

reporting unsecured buildings and safety hazards;

controlling access to sensitive and restricted areas.

Conducts motorized and walking patrols;

responds to alarm activations;

detects and temporarily detains violators;

provides assistance to other base police security personnel;

provides preliminary reports regarding incidents of criminal activity, lost or stolen property, and vehicular accidents/incidents.

Performs other duties as required and/or as assigned.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

Feet: Besides walking and standing, a Security Officer uses his/her feet for activities such as the Physical Agility Test, driving/operating vehicles, self-defense, physical use of force, and running pursuit.

Hands: Must be able to do simple grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulation with both hands, to include maneuvering an all-terrain vehicle.

Office conditions are varied and includes physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (two-men assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, crawling, kneeling, and work requiring repeated or frequent climbing. Environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, with field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

High School diploma or equivalent

Two (2) Year Technical School or equivalent training such as Navy “A” school or recognized correspondence is required

Must have a current Hawaii Driver’s License

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Must successfully complete all training programs, drug screening, psychological screening, and physical exam.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must submit fingerprints and application to obtain a Secret clearance.

Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
