Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer (SE) will employ a combination of science, process, innovation and personal diplomacy to support the Operational regions organizational elements in addressing and solving challenging problems that could benefit from SE methodologies and practices. Prepares, coordinates, and maintains governance documents such as charters and standard operating procedures for forums and processes that support management business rhythms (enabling SE functions) and the SE process areas. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Performs analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Provides technical input for strategic planning and participates in a site risk management program, configuration management program and metrics management program.

The SE will work closely with the site Configuration Management (CM) staff and support the site baseline process. Executes proven industry Systems Engineering processes and methodologies to effectively and efficiently address site and Enterprise needs. The SE focus will be primarily addressing the integration of systems and capabilities developed elsewhere into the Site baseline, operations and management (O&M) of mission and systems, and decommissioning of obsolete systems. This individual should be familiar with resource and configuration management techniques (applied at Site against a facilities management and O&M paradigm addressing resources like power, space, cooling, etc). This individual should be familiar with and be able to provide advanced planning and scheduling support. This position requires excellent organizational skills, excellent communication skills both written and oral, and the ability to document and track progress against actions and decisions.

Qualifications

Individual Capabilities/Experience Required:
  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline and at least 15 years of systems engineering experience. A Masters or PhD Degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience. Note: a High School Diploma or GED plus 19 years of systems engineering experience would also be acceptable.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership and technical project management experience.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership to the local Data Center Facilities team with a broad set of responsibilities.
  • Ability to coordinate on-going activities with Hardware Planning, Installation and Integration, Civil Engineering and Systems Engineering groups in evaluation and approval of new mission system installations.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting briefs for senior government program managers.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and long-range planning and activities with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to establish and execute Systems Engineering processes, including Baseline Configuration Management.
  • Excellent communications skills at all management levels (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed, large organization.
  • Position requires TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

  • Architecture Baseline Definition
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management controls and processes.
  • ITIL certification
  • Experience in the development of Facilities Roadmaps/Plans
  • Field Site experience.

Colorado Salary Minimum: $93,870.40
Colorado Salary Maximum:$200,678.40
