Summary StatementThe Human Resources department is s eeking qualified candidates to lead and coordinate the injured employee advocate program and help people get back to work better than ever. Supports and coordinates citywide workers’ compensation programs.

Develops and implements total employee safety and health initiatives including mental health and employee resiliency efforts citywide.

Essential FunctionsSupports the lead claims administrator and coordinates the citywide workers' compensation programs. Leads the injured worker advocate program. Coordinates with employees, medical providers, city departments and other stakeholders to ensure timely return to work. Provides consultation and coaching to injured workers and communicates with employees, third-party administrators (TPA) and medical providers. Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.Initiates, leads and coordinates program development and enhancements. Ensures the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date data and records within the risk management information system (RMIS). Creates and maintains appropriate claims files following established records retention policies and procedures. Performs analytics and provides regular reports with benchmark data to evaluate programs and provide recommendations.Provides assessments and education for employees in all aspects of total employee safety and health, including designing ergonomic work stations, developing safe onsite and remote work habits and environments to improve safety and productivity, enhancing employee resiliency and facilitating mental health and psychological safety throughout the organization.Develops policies, programs and practices that integrate protection from work-related safety and health hazards with the promotion of injury and illness prevention efforts to advance worker safety, health and well-being. Works with strategic partners to coordinate total employee health and safety initiatives.Performs other duties as assigned. Total Percentage = 100%RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Experience, And Training

Bachelor's degree in health sciences, social services, kinesiology, health promotions or a related field, and

3 years of case management, or

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of:

Idaho workers' compensation laws and disability management;

The relationship between the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), workers' compensation, and the Americans with Disabilities Act/Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act (ADA/ADAA) as it relates to employee injury documentation; and

Computer usage including related software.

In addition, candidates have the ability to:

use logical reasoning to effectively analyze and evaluate complex problems and issues to make sound recommendations;

motivate, coach and inspire employees to make positive changes in their health;

identify and communicate potential process improvements;

manage multiple requests/projects based upon the need for immediate action in a fast-paced, changing environment;

maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive documents or information;

communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and

perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.

Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

Experience in case management in a healthcare setting, mental health counseling, physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology and/or related fields.

Certification in Workers' Compensation Law (CIWCS), case management and health coaching.

Licensing And Other Requirements

Valid state-issued drivers license.
