You should also know your way around a commercial kitchen and the tools needed to do your job.What you'll do: A typical day includes working as part of a team to prepare meals for residents, including those with multiple dietary restrictions. You'll serve snacks and supplements and connect with residents each day as you document nutritional intake. You'll also help with dining and kitchen cleanup, safety monitoring, and sanitary practices to avoid contamination. As a Food & Nutrition Assistant, you will be an integral part of our dietary team. Our Food & Nutrition Assistants are tasked with dishwashing duties, clearing tables, sanitizing equipment and tables; other cleaning duties as assigned in dining area and in kitchen/work area, including drying and restocking dishes, pots and pans and clean kitchen/dining areas and emptying trash as assigned. Our Food & Nutrition Assistants are also vital in assisting with serving nutritious, appealing meals to residents. Other duties for our Food & Nutrition Assistants include: setting up tables in the main dining room for breakfast and lunch, serving beverages and meals to residents, assisting with preparing menu items, snacks and supplements following physician's orders, standards and regulations. Keeping residents' dining areas pleasant and orderly. Maintaining residents' self-esteem, privacy and confidentiality of personal information. Providing residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plans. Safeguarding residents' property. Observing, measuring and documenting food intake as assigned. Receiving and sharing information; observing and reports residents' conditions to appropriate staff. Using the EMR accurately. Checking equipment before use and notifying supervisors or maintenance staff of problems. Operating dishwashing and kitchen equipment safely. Follows location infection control procedures and OSHA and CDC guidelines that apply to blood borne pathogens while serving food, assisting residents and cleaning.Schedule information: Variable days 6:00am – 2:00pm in the dining room, variable evenings 4:00pm-8:00pm in the dishroom, and variable weekend mornings 7:00am – 2:30pm, in the dishroom for an average of 30 hours per week.
