Summary:The Idaho Department of Correction is currently accepting applications for a Financial Specialist. This position will perform various professional financial duties requiring application of accounting, auditing, and/or budgeting theory, principles, and practices.Responsibilities:
Manage accounts payable/accounts receivable.
Prepare, analyze, and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, budgets, tax and payroll records, and other related documents using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Prepare reports of findings, conclusions, or recommendations.
Participate in the design, modification, and implementation of financial-related systems.
Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and variances to ensure acceptable business practices and procedures have been followed for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Analyze technical financial problems and provide professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions.
Analyze, research, and maintain financial data and develop financial documents/reports, including P-cards, administration and bond fund.
Assist with travel arrangement for staff and commissioners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Typically gained by an Associate degree in Accounting AND at least two years of professional work experience as an accountant, or equivalent; OR at least four years of professional work experience as an accountant, or equivalent, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience preparing financial reports, performing expenditure analysis, and performing reconciliations
Experience working with accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Experience communicating financial information to management
Experience with State accounting systems Experience with spreadsheet software.
