Job Description:
A Paver Operator, Screed Operator, Roller Operator, Asphalt Laborer will work to apply asphalt to road beds, parking lots, airport runways and taxiways, and driveways.
Summary:
Thueson Construction is seeking an experienced Paver Crew Employee . Thueson Constriction is a family owned construction company that operates out of Nampa Idaho. We specialize in earthmoving, underground utilities, paving, and miscellaneous paving structures in the public and private sectors. We also aim to provide turnkey GC packages in multiple private industries, as well as acting as General Contractors on complex public works projects. Asphalt Laborer
Rake and shovel asphalt.
Operate a roller and compact
Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
Perform variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy highway, roadway, excavation, and infrastructure projects
Operate screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications as instructed by crew foreman / superintendent to insure
daily schedules / estimates are met
Screed operation on the asphalt paver involves making normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finished
cross section of asphalt material via screed controls
Operator asphalt paving and milling equipment (Asphalt Pavers, Asphalt Rollers, Street Sweepers, Tractor Brooms)
Ability to guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to machine hopper when operating paver, Assist in patching asphalt
with hot and cold mix
Minor service / maintenance on equipment if applicable
Asphalt Screedman
Prior to each shift ensure the screed is clean and properly adjusted for the type of paving to be completed.
Monitor temperature settings to adjust the asphalt mixture continually.
Adjust the screed paving reference components to the project specs, paving, width, depth (thickness), grade and slope.
Ensure proper contact between gates and the paving surface. Adjust springs and chains for clearance.
Be able to troubleshoot problems and make the necessary adjustments concerning the asphalt during paving operations.
Assist the paver operator in attaching extensions to screed to adjust width.
Assist paving crew with site preparation and any other activity as needed.
Asphalt Roller Operator
Distribute, break down, compress and give a finished surface to cooling asphalt.
Drives machine in overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling subgrade and asphalt to desired compaction and
smoothness.
Determines speed and direction of machine based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures.
Operate equipment safety and efficiently
Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices if needed
Maintain clean work area by disposing of trash and debris properly
Engage in manual labor work when needed
